MADBURY, N.H.- Authorities say Emily Long killed her husband and two of their children before taking her own life earlier this week.
Investigators working the case have released new details into the tragedy in which they say 34-year-old Emily Long used a handgun early Monday morning to kill her husband 48-year-old Ryan Long and two of their children, their son Parker, 8 and daughter Ryan, 6 inside their home on Moharimet Drive.
Following Autopsy results which were released Wednesday evening officials say both children died from gunshot wounds to the head, and their deaths were ruled homicides, while Long’s husband Ryan was shot multiple times, with his death also being ruled a homicide. As for Emily, authorities say she died from a single gunshot to the head, and that her death has been ruled a suicide.
As for an exact motive for the shooting, authorities say that’s part of an on-going investigation, but Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati explained to WMUR-TV that while investigators are learning more about the various issues happening within the home at the time of the event, he cautioned against assuming a single cause is to blame for the tragedy. “Some that involved the idea of what was going on with the money situation, with the health situation, I think the big thing is to not speculate one reason why something like this would happen,” Agati said. “Homicide and suicide is usually much, much more complex than just one reason.”
Officials also have offered an update into the well-being of the couple’s third child, a toddler, who was found alive at the scene and was physically unharmed and ay that the child is now with relatives.
