CONCORD, N.H.- Gov. Kelly Ayotte has ordered the Attorney General’s office to conduct an independent investigation into a report from the state’s Child Advocate’s related to allegegations of abuse and neglect at the Sununu Youth Service Center.

Ayotte told reporters Wednesday:” We need an independent review so we can determine all the facts and if there are changes that need to be made, they will be made.”

Associate Attorney General Christopher Bond informed the Executive Council that a review is underway, and prosecutors have been working with Health and Human Services Commissioner Lori Weaver to protect the safety of the staff and juveniles housed at the detention facility.

The call for further review comes after the state’s Child Advocate Cassandra Sanchez released a report detailing a number of claims of abuse including complaints from kids at the facility and notes her staff reviewed video footage from March 30th showing staff using physical restraint without risk of harm and a child with a broken arm held in an illegal prone position for 3½ minutes.
