MANCHESTER, N.H.- It’s official the Democratic National Party finalized its 2028 primary calendar, with South Carolina scheduled to go first and
Nevada to go second.

On Saturday the party voted on the calendar which places New Hampshire third race to take place, despite calls for the DNC to accept New Hampshire’s first in the nation status.

Out of the vote Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic Party went on the record and said, “The DNC has delivered a 2028 nominating calendar that truly represents our party and our values and will help us retake the White House in 2028.”

However therein lies the problem; as New Hampshire has a law on the books mandating the Granite State hold the 1st in the nation primary. And Secretary of State Dave Scanlan, says the state will still do just that.

In the event New Hampshire proceeds with its primary which would be two-weeks before South Carolina’s it runs the risk of being slapped with party-initiated penalties.

This past June the party’s rules and bylaws committee approved stronger penalties for state’s who opt to violate the party’s calendar.

According to officials the repercussions include a $270,000 fine and lowering representation at the 2028 Democratic National Convention from 50% to 100%, which could translate to that state being completely unrepresented at the convention.
