ERNEST Says He Was ‘Lost’ Before Stepping Away From Touring

ERNEST Says He Was ‘Lost’ Before Stepping Away From Touring

A little over a week ago, ERNEST abruptly stepped away from the road.

Now he’s explaining a little more about why.

ERNEST returned to social media Tuesday morning after canceling the remainder of his dates with Ella Langley’s Dandelion Tour and temporarily disappearing from his online accounts.

His message to fans was simple:

“I was lost.”

When ERNEST initially announced his break on August 28, he said touring had been dragging him down mentally and physically and that he needed time to get his priorities back in order.

This week’s message suggests the problem went deeper than simply being tired.

He says he’d become disconnected from himself, his family and his faith.

So he stopped.

Not forever.

Just long enough to figure out what needed fixing.

ERNEST thanked fans for the flood of supportive messages he received while he was offline and reassured them that he’s okay.

He also described the break as necessary rather than optional—something he needed to do before continuing with everything else.

That’s significant because everything else has become quite a lot.

ERNEST spent years primarily known inside Nashville as a songwriter.

He helped write major hits for artists including Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt, Kane Brown and Chris Lane before his own recording career began taking off.

Then came the albums.

The tours.

The bigger rooms.

The interviews.

The social-media obligations.

The constant travel.

His latest album, Deep Blue, arrived in May, and the schedule around it only added to an already busy career.

From the outside, that’s what success is supposed to look like.

ERNEST’s experience is another reminder that it doesn’t necessarily feel that way from inside the bus.

There’s also something worth noting about how he handled it.

Country music historically hasn’t been an industry where male artists were particularly encouraged to announce:

I’m not doing well and I need to stop.

The traditional version was closer to:

Finish the show.

Get back on the bus.

Deal with it later.

That attitude has been changing.

Artists are increasingly willing to postpone dates, step away and talk publicly about mental health, burnout and the personal cost of maintaining a touring career.

ERNEST’s message fits directly into that shift.

He hasn’t announced exactly when he’ll return to touring, and there’s probably no reason he needs to.

The shows will still be there.

For now, he sounds considerably more interested in making sure he is too.
