Flu cases surging in NH

Cases of the flu are surging in New Hampshire, and the number of people being taken to the hospital for it is setting new records. American Medical Response in Manchester said it set a new 24-hour transport record on Tuesday, responding to 70 patients. AMR officials said the H3N2 strain of the virus, which is currently circulating, is historically associated with higher transmission rates and more severe illness, especially for older adults and people with underlying health conditions. There have been at least 12 adult flu-related deaths reported in New Hampshire so far this season, including six in the last week.
