The state Department of Justice is investigating a former state senator and his wife over COVID relief funds.
Former State Senator Andy Sanborn is denying he fraudulently spent a COVID-19 relief loan on three sports cars, including an $80,000 Ferrari he gave to his wife, Representative Laurie Sanborn. Sanborn owns the Concord Casino. He’s seeking to open a larger venue, but the state lottery commission is moving to ban him from operating any such business. Sanborn, who is requesting a hearing with the commission, says he complied with all requirements to get the loan.
