FRANKLIN, N.H.- Local residents are asking for an override of the tax cap to address a budget shortfall of $2.25 million dollars that could result in cuts to both athletics and extracurricular activities.

Monday night parents, staff and students urged the Franklin City Council to increase funding to avoid eliminating 16 staff members and cutting athletics, extracurriculars, and programs such as art and music.

Out of Monday’s meeting budget conferences will be held locally before the city votes on its final budget in July.
