MANCHESTER,N.H.- The city’s Board of Alderman have backed a proposal from Mayor Jay Ruais that would keep the Beech St shelter open for another 7 seven months.
Despite some debate City leaders ended up agreeing to keep the shelter open, followed by the launch of a 20-bed shelter for older and medically fragile homeless individuals.
During the discussion Mayor Ruais warned that closing the Beech shelter could lead to a Homeless crisis similar to one the city experienced several years ago.
As for where that shelter will be located has yet to be announced, but Ruais says the new shelter is scheduled to open on April 1st.
