MANCHESTER, N.H.– Officials from the Manchester school district are planing to send parents a survey in the coming weeks to see if there’s any interest in starting classes later in the day.

Monday night the Board of School Committee voted unanimously to approve sending families across the Queen City the survey to see if there’s enough interest in the move, which could be implemented as early as this fall.

Officials say the survey will focus on number of areas including choices of potential start times options along with the possible benefits related to a possible change. Folks will also be asked to consider how those changes would impact their daily routines.

Manchester’s Assistant Superintendent Kelly Espinola notes that the change could result in an estimated $600,000 in savings for the district’s operating costs, while Superintendent Jennifer Chmiel notes that the district would get the survey out by the middle of next week.
