TEWKSBURY,.M.A.- Market Basket’s Board of Directors has filed for a restraining order against former executives Joe Schmidt and Tom Gordon who were recently fired, as they claim Schmidt broke into the company’s headquarters in Tewksbury and the pair visited numerous stores.

According to a statement issued Monday afternoon by board member Steven Collins, Schmidt was seen on video entering the building after regular business hours due to the fact that he still has a key, which he refuses to return and that both Schmidt and Gordon visited 23 stores in order to intimidate employees, and to precipitate a work slowdown, employee walkout and customer boycott.

This latest development comes after Schmidt and Gordon were fired after they were originally placed on administrative leave back in May along with CEO Arthur T. Demoulas, his brother-in-law Gerard Lewis and Demoulas’s two children, Madeline and Telemachus over a claim that Demoulas and others were orchestrating a employee walkout, similar to what occurred in the summer of 2014.

Following word of the boards plans Justine Griffin, Demoulas’s spokeswoman issued a statement saying “This is outrageous,” and went on to say, “In a continuation of the board and Quinn Emanuel’s scorched earth tactics, they sent this complaint to the media before Joe and Tom were even aware of it. This gameplaying needs to stop — they are messing with the lives of real people. And they are lying.”

Lawyers for the board are scheduled to appear Thursday morning in Lowell Superior Court to file the for the order and appear at a hearing which is scheduled for 10 a.m. Meanwhile Arthur T. Demoulas says he plans to enter into mediation with the board.
