Medical event leads to drowning

State Police are investigating after a woman drowned Monday in Laconia. Witnesses said they saw 73-year-old Bonita Johnston of Laconia, swimming alone Monday evening in Opechee Bay. A few minutes later, they saw her floating face down in the water. Two of the witnesses tried to revive Johnston but couldn’t. Investigators said an autopsy showed she had a medical event and then drowned.
