CONCORD, N.H.- The New Hampshire Senate has officially killed proposed legislation that would allow citizens to carry weapons on college campuses.

In a voice vote Thursday Senators decided to kill off HB 1793, otherwise known as the “Campus Carry” bill after Republican leadership decided against trying to negotiate with their House counterparts over an expanded version of the bill that would have allowed all students, faculty and visitors to carry guns on all public or private colleges that receives state funding.

The bill’s demise comes after Senate lawmakers last week amended the original bill to only allow faculty the right to carry weapons on campuses.

Following the bill’s defeat Rep.Samuel Farrington R-Rochester says he’s disapointed, but will keep fighting for the cause if he’s reelected.
