NASHUA, N.H. – Nashua’s Board of Aldermen is scheduled to vote Wednesday evening on whether to purchase and renovate a property on 14 Mulberry Street into a homeless resource center.

At a public hearing last week several town officials and members of the public expressed their concerns and opposition to the proposal to purchase the property.

The planning board voted 3-2 not to support the project.  However, the Board of Aldermen has final authority to purchase the property.

Mayor Jim Donchess explained that the proposal aims to appropriate $900,000 through a bond issue to purchase the property – and he noted that ultimately the project could cost around $4.5 million.
