CONCORD, N.H.- Former State Senator and Casino owner Andy Sanborn has pleaded guilty to misusing COVID-19 relief funds.

On Tuesday the 64-year-old appeared in a federal court and pled guilty to theft of government funds after being accused of spending more than $250,000 on personal items, including a luxury sports car.

Sanborn’s guilty plea comes after he was charged back in May, as authorities say he received a total of $844,000 which was supposed to go to the now closed Concord Casino and the suspension of his gaming license.

Out his appearance Sanborn will end up spending a year and one day in prison but was released personal recognizance and is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
