Swanzey man sentenced to more than 20 years following early morning shooting

KEENE, N.H.- A Swanzey man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to shooting a teen in a Walmart parking lot last summer.

On Wednesday Thomas Pickford,18, appeared in court and plead guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 27 years in State Prison for shooting Christan Walker during the early morning hours of June 25, 2025.

According to court documents Pickford arranged to meet a girl he had been dating at the Walmart on Winchester Street and to return items that belong to her and once she arrived Pickford saw that she was with Walker.

From there Pickford reportedly drove off, only to return and opened fire hitting Walker in the stomach.

Walker was then taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
