HAMPTON, N.H.- A teen is dead after being rescued from the water by First Responders while his father is listed in stable condition.
According to the State Police Marine Patrol a call for a possible drowning came in a little before 7pm Sunday evening, which resulted in Lifeguards being called in to rescue the 17-year-old who according to witnesses had been swimming with his family and been pulled away from shore by a strong current. Which then resulted in his 61-year-old father entering the water in an attempt o rescue him, who then also became distressed.
Once the teen and his father were brought to shore Lifeguards began lifesaving efforts before the pair were taken to Exeter Hospital, where the teen was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.
Following this series of events authorities say Hampton Beach has been closed for the time being, however, officials say they plan to reevaluate conditions Monday as the day progresses. Meanwhile authorities say the victim’s identity is being withheld due to his age.
